Enjoy a day trip to the
Monastery of Guadalupe, a World Heritage Site, and visit
Trujillo, one of the most charming towns in
Extremadura.
The departure will be from your hotel in Cáceres, where you will pick up the guide to start the journey to the Royal Monastery of Guadalupe, where you will take a guided tour to discover this monumental jewel.
The building itself is a work of art, a mixture of Mudejar, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical styles. Inside you can admire paintings by Zurbarán, pieces of sculpture and crafts, as well as works by other painters such as El Greco, Goya, Juan de Mena, Isembrant and Juan Correa de Vivar.
After the visit to the Monastery of Guadalupe, we will visit the spectacular Puebla de Guadalupe, an interesting Historic-Artistic Set from the XIV-XVI century, with beautiful alleyways and houses with arcades.
In addition, you will have some free time to have lunch on your own and tour the old town of Guadalupe for lunch and to take a look at the surroundings, which include the Ermita del Humilladero, San Blas and Santa Catalina, Arca del Agua , Mills of the Guadalupe river, Pozo de la Nieve, among others.
In the second part of the tour we will explore Trujillo, visiting its old town, which seems to have been preserved with few variations from centuries ago. You will walk through its famous Plaza Mayor, presided over by the statue of Pizarro, you will admire the Palace of the Marquess of the Conquest and the Alcázar de los Chaves, among other points of interest. You will know the most important part of Trujillo village, where some of the most important Spanish conquerors of the 16th century were born, such as Francisco de Pizarro or García de Paredes.
On the outskirts of Cáceres, we will make the last stop of the tour in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Mountain (Patrona de Cáceres) from where you can contemplate a panoramic view of the monumental city.
You will then return to your hotel in Cáceres approximately at 18:00h.
